The North Beach Suite in the Village of Placencia
Placencia BeachPlacencia Belize

PLACENCIA

Placencia is located in Southern Belize on a narrow 13 Mile long peninsula bordered by the Caribbean Sea. Placencia claims mainland Belize's best beaches. A small village where fishing meets tourism as the local source of income, Placencia feels undiscovered and remains unspoiled by too many tourists.

A narrow sidewalk, famous as being the world's narrowest "street", runs down the center of the village and is bordered by colorful houses, small hotels and charming restaurants. It's a great place to unwind and get into "Belize Time".

Placencia is a great location from which to visit the rest of southern Belize. The Barrier Reef, archaeological sites, caves, rainforests, jungle rivers, national parks, Garifuna and Maya Villages are all available to visit on day trips out of Placencia.

HOW TO GET TO THE NORTH BEACH

Flying to Belize is an easy prospect with daily flights out of the United States.  Continental has flights out of Houston, American Airlines flies from Miami and Dallas, USAir flies from Charlotte, Delta out of Atlanta, and Taca Airlines flies out of Los Angeles and Dallas.

Once you arrive at the Belize International Airport
you can fly, drive, or take a bus to Placencia.

Flying is the quickest most convenient method of travel to Placencia.  Flights depart to and from Placencia through out the day.  The flight is approximately 35 minutes.   We are agents for Tropic Air and are happy to help book your flights to Placencia.

Rental cars are available in Belize City and at the International Airport if you want the freedom of having a vehicle.  Rental cars can be expensive, especially if you are coming to Placencia, where the car may sit for days on end.  The drive to Placencia from Belize City is about 4 hours.

The bus is reserved for those who would like a little adventure and a lot of culture on their trip to Placencia.  Most buses used in Belize are old school buses, which are not very comfortable.  However, if you are on a budget and want to see some of Belize on your way to Placencia, it might be an option for you.  Often, if people are considering the bus, I tell them to take it one way and plan to fly back.  The bus to Placencia will take about 5 hours give or take.
